Wow, has it really been 6 months since my last post here?

I’ve been incredibly busy with my 2 main sites, hence BestFreeApps being neglected somewhat. Another reason is that I’ve recently become a Mac convert with my recent purchase of a beautiful new 17″ MacBook Pro and I’ve been getting to grips with all things Mac related.

There’s a ton of free stuff for the Mac, so expect some reviews soon. I won’t be abandoning free Windows apps - I need to keep Windows for my work - and there’ll be more reviews of free web based apps, which I’m finding I’m using more frequently.

Just wanted to let you all know this isn’t another “abandablog”!

I’ve created a group over on Tangler for the discussion of the best free software. If you have any suggestions for reviews, or any comments regarding freeware in general, that’s the place for it.

In case you’ve not heard of it before, Tangler is like a message board or forum, but runs in real time. It’s very easy to use and is becoming popular, particularly with new Web 2.0 startups. It’s worth a look, even if you don’t wish to join in the BestFreeApps discussion.

Not so much software as a service, but it is free!

If you’ve not heard of Feedburner before, they provide a much more robust method for you to handle your RSS feed for your web site or blog. Recently acquired by Google, they are now offering their Pro service for free, which offers additional stats, e.g. “Reach”, which lets you know how many people have actioned an item from your feed.

If you’ve not used them before, I’d recommend them. I’ve been using the Wordpress plugin to handle the RSS feed here at BestFreeApps and on FlightSimX and it provides a wealth of information relating to your feed.

Would you like to include the web feed from BestFreeApps on your site? If so, I’ve created a Widget at WidgetBox which will enable you to easily embed the content directly on your page. Simply follow the instructions and you’ll be up and running, delivering the very latest freeware news and reviews to your site.

I’ve added a Table of Contents page to the site to make it easier for you to find the review you’re after.

There’s also a permanent link at the top of each page.

Well, it’s been some time. I’ve been really tied up with my main blog - FlightSimX - trying to get it established and spending a lot of time reviewing software for it. Now I’ve a little time, I intend to start adding more reviews of my favourite freeware here on BestFreeApps.

I’ve got a list (I’ve always kept it going so I’d have plenty of material when I got back!), so look forward to seeing more content soon
